The Mid-Day Role.

The mid-day role is hard to do, You really do not have a clue. Watching 200 children or more, Making sure they’re all fed can be a chore. In every school across the land, In playgrounds you will see them stand. Sometimes in groups, but often alone, In winter months chilled to the bone. Although a hour does not seem long, You really could not be more wrong. Listen carefully and you will hear them say, Get off the field, it’s too wet today. You’ll walk the mud all through the school, And if you’re not careful you might fall. Then we will need to do first aid, You need to know, we’re not well paid. A bouncer, negotiator rolled into one, The attitude received is not much fun. Good manners are lacking that much is true, It really isn’t that hard to do. And did you know what affects the child, Full moons and wind, it makes them wild. The mid-day role is hard to do, You really do not have a clue.

Introduction

Hello, I work as a SEN LSA in a mainstream primary school. I’ve worked in my current school for nine years, before that I worked for the NHS in pharmacy for 20 years. I never wanted to work with children, I always thought that those that did were absolutely crazy! However, here I am!! I started writing poems about things that happen or have happen whilst at work. It’s not meant to be serious all of the time, just a bit of fun. I hope you enjoy.
